There are many options available to buy holiday money though the main companies may be found at travel spots. While there are many businesses that offer currency they all have different fees and exchange rates and you want to find the company that provides you the best rates and the lowest fees. Any of the currency exchanges you find at airports will have some of the highest fees, normally around 8%.
You should be careful when using companies that offer commission free exchanges as these may not necessarily be the best deals for getting travel money. A commission charge tends to refer to the fee needed to convert the currency and this tends to be how different exchange companies make their money. You may find that those companies that are not charging commission are not providing you with a competitive rate.
Every company charges this as well as credit cards. If a company isn’t charging a commission than their rates may not be competitive and you can probably find better deals elsewhere.

You will also be charged loading fees as well as withdrawal fees. Even credit cards that do not normally charge currency conversion fees will have very high interest rates.
You can withdraw currency directly from your home account by using a debit card. Most US banks have partner banks in other countries where you can take money out without being charged a fee. If you have activated your card you can even take out money from other banks.
Also if there are any fees then if you hold an account than the fees should be discounted. You should check with your bank before you leave to make sure you can take out money and which banks to go to so there are no problems when you arrive.
You can still get cash using traveler’s checks though these have many fees. However they also have built in insurance should something happen and they need to be replaced.
